After our first induction meeting, I was inspired by CanTeam’s aims and the opportunity to spread a feeling of community locally. We prepared the roles, timings and decoration details. Across two events, I helped with registration, serving and entertainment.
Working in a group meant using teamwork and time management to build the key aspects of each event. We took our roles seriously, shared ideas and helped one another. After some initial hesitation, it became a pleasure to meet new people and learn about them.
I would recommend the experience to other students. It offered immense potential for learning new personal and professional skills. I’m proud to have helped spread a sense of community within my school.
I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of independence we were given.
